Seed Grant & Pilot Funding | D-SINE AFRICA

Seed Grant & Pilot Funding

Funding opportunities under D-SINE Africa

We are happy to inform the research community of two funding opportunities under D-SINE Africa

SEED GRANT
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

The Seed Grant Opportunity is opened to all Africa-based investigators excluding partners of D-SINE Africa.

The proposal could be a project of primary data collection from established investigators or junior faculty pursuing a new clinical research direction with a focus on injuries, surgery and equity. Proposals from diverse areas of research, including public health, clinical research, basic science, translational science, and health policy or economics applications, may all be considered.

Collaborative partnerships involving more than one faculty are particularly encouraged. Successful proposals could be funded to the tune of $20,000 and will cover a maximum period of 18 months. Collaboration among researchers at multiple campuses is encouraged. Requests for funds to complete an existing project, carry out a fully powered study or that do not meet D-SINE Africa thematic areas of focus will not be considered.

The deadline for this funding opportunity has been extended for another two weeks.  Applications will be accepted until 15 November 2022

Eligibility
Africa-based investigators (who hold their primary appointment or affiliation at an African institution) are eligible to apply for D-SINE Seed Grants.
How to Apply
Interested applicants should submit full proposal to the email address; contact@dsineafrica.org latest on the deadline November 15th 2022, at 4:00 pm Central African Time. Any submission after the deadline will not be considered. The number of proposals to be awarded will be contingent to the availability of funds. Future cycles of proposals are anticipated annually, dependent on funding.

PILOT PROJECT
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

The pilot project opportunity, which emphasizes career development, is open to D-SINE Africa partners and collaborators wishing to perform primary or secondary data collection and analysis to achieve the goals of the centre. Successful proposals could be funded for up to $10,000 and will cover a maximum period of 12 months.

The applicants to this grant or at least one of their mentors MUST be members of one of the partner institutions listed above. Collaboration among researchers at multiple campuses is encouraged and can be facilitated if needed. Requests for funds to complete an existing project, carry out a fully powered study or which is not within the thematic areas of focus of D-SINE Africa will not be considered for funding.

Applications that propose the study of the intersection of these themes are strongly encouraged. The program aims to support investigators interested in data science applications to trauma, surgical and health equity.

The deadline for this funding opportunity has been extended for another two weeks.  Applications will be accepted until 15 November 2022
